Through special arrangements with a brake manufacturer, I am pleased to introduce the MovIt Brake Kit specifically designed for the '94-'96 Impala SS, as well as the '91-'96 Caprice.

The MovIt Brake Kit

The calipers used in the MovIt Brake Kit are Brembo 4s4 calipers made especially for MovIt with larger 40/44 pistons instead of the typically 36/44 pistons. Additional changes made by MovIt are Porsche high temp seals, additional M12 bridge bolts (now 6) and a few other alloy changes for the pistons. Since the manufacturer can buy them in bulk (600 pcs per order), they get much better prices resulting in lower retail. They no longer offer the much more expensive GT3 Monoblock calipers due to recent delivery problems, and more importantly problems with the pad retaining system under intense track use.

Both the hot and cold 60-0 mph brake performance is dramatically enhanced with the MovIt Brake Kit. The modulation ability also increases dramatically. Multiple 150-0 mph stops aren't even comparable to stock, they're that much better.

With the MovIt Brake Kit, no changes are made to the master cylinder or ABS. The manufacturer actually insists on keeping the stock ABS and master cylinder. If you lust after a more soft and mushy brake pedal feel (there are a few out there) then you can swap in a larger truck master cylinder.

As you may have seen, there is a new 14" kit available. These rotors actually come off the brand new Porsche SUV, called Cayenne. The 15" will fit underneath 95% of all 18" wheels, but it's better to check the ID first. Some true 3-piece wheels use a 17" center section with 18" rings. This means, you have 18" tires but essentially a 17" rim. If there is interference, most likely it will only be with true 3-piece wheels (though, BBS Challengers are OK).

The MovIt Brake Kit is offered in the following configurations:

Front Brake Set
  • 322mm (12.68in) X 32mm (1.26in) 4S4 Caliper
  • 330mm (12.99in) X 34mm (1.34in) 4S4 Caliper
  • 350mm (13.78in) X 34mm (1.34in) 4S4 Caliper
  • 380mm (14.96in) X 32mm (1.26in) 4S4 Caliper *
Rear Brake Set
  • 328mm (12.91in) X 32mm (1.26in) 4S1 Caliper

* The 380mm Front Brake Set is available with an optional 6-piston 6S1 Caliper.

Each MovIt Brake Kit comes complete with:

  • 2 rotors, either 2-piece or 1-piece design with either the CNC-machined F52 aluminum hub, clear high-temperature anodizing, or CNC-machined Cu1.5 steel centering ring. All materials are aircraft quality steel or aluminum and come underwater X-rayed. All machining is done in-house.
  • 2 4s4 calipers, modified to our in-house specification with 40/44mm pistons
  • 2 brackets, Cu1.5 CNC machined from Cu1.5 stock
  • 1 Set of MovIt Sport brake pads
  • 1 Set of Fischer Hydraulic brake lines
  • 2 hubs machined from GM rotors, pressed in Cosworth racing studs M12x68mm
  • 1 Set of assorted precision ground shims, 12.9 bolts, and Hardware except bracket bolts which are 10.9
All machining is done in-house. Our machine center contains 2 CNC lathes, 1 CNC saw, 6 CNC machining 5 axis stations, and much more.

Recommended changes to accompany the installation of the MovIt Brake Kit:

  • definitely the stealth bolt upgrade
  • high-temperature brake fluid like ATE super blue racing
  • 5/8" Ball Joints are preferable but not necessary unless you're a serious track junkie who's not shy to jump over curbs all the time

The optional 6-piston caliper in combination with the 15" LD rotors can create a deceleration force in the neighborhood of -13.5m/s2. For comparison, this is just slightly lower then DTM (German touring car masters) race cars This is as serious as it can get on any car.
