Q: How will a car perform during extreme braking when using MovIt front Brakes with only stock rears? What is the brake bias in such a configuration?

This depends on the suspension of the car. There's no problem using a front Brake Kit only with the smaller stock rear brakes, although it would be better with larger rear brakes due to the car's weight on the rear tires. With the larger brakes on the rear, you would gain quite a bit of braking force through the rear tires. If the rear brakes are too big (front caliper on the rear axle), the pedal travel will be too long. There's also the possibility of over-braking of the rear tires. The MovIt Brake Kit uses large calipers, large pads, and large rotors to stay extremely cool but small pistons to avoid over-braking.

Q: How much difference is there in brake "feel", that is, the capability to shut it down "right now", between the stock brakes and MovIt brakes?

There's no comparison. Stock brakes are weak and soft due to the weak floating caliper and rubber brake hoses. The 4s4 caliper uses 4 M12 DIN 912 grade 12 bolts (and 6 for 380mm). It is extremely strong; at 180 bar the caliper widens approx. 0.2 mm!

Q: How much difference is there in brake "feel", that is, the capability to shut it down "right now", between the different diameters/thicknesses of the front rotors?

The 322 and 330 are similar. The 350 has a little more braking force due to the larger rotor, and the 380 is again a little more. The most important thing is that the 330 and 350mm rotors last extremely long due to the larger surface and therefore cooler temperature. The braking force on ALL sets is more than enough to notice a dramatic difference over stock. You will be able to lock the tires (or make the ABS work) at over 150 mph. The next step to gain more braking force would be better tires.

Q: Will my stock rims work with the Brake Kit?

The 322mm (12.68in) X 32mm (1.26in) and 330mm (12.99in) X 34mm (1.34in) Front Brake Kits and the 332mm (13.07in) X 32mm (1.10in) Rear Brake Kit will work with stock rims.

The 350mm (13.78in) X 34mm (1.34in) Front Brake Kit will require 18" rims, and the 380mm (14.96in) X 32mm (1.26in) will require 19" rims (and some 18" rims depending on the style and an I.D. greater than 430mm).

Q: How difficult is it to find rims that the Brake Kit will fit in? I'm considering Forgeline 275/40/17's on 9.5-inch rims in front and 315/35/17's on 11-inch rims in rear.

Forgeline's are superb wheels in my opinion. You need to pay attention with the rear because the calipers are approximately 45mm over the mounting surface of the wheels.

Q: Are stock spindles used? If not, then 9C1's or aftermarket? Is additional machining necessary, or are they bolt on?

Spindles have to be modified. I am working on a supply of these, or you can cut the ears for the dust shields off of your existing spindles.

Q: Are replacement forged rotors available? At approximately what cost? Can forged "drilled" rotors be turned on a lathe for uneven wear?

The rotors can be turned on a lathe for uneven wear, although on an Impala with big wheel bearings this should never happen.

Q: How much are replacement pads? Front? Rear?

A Pad Set is $130.00 for street or sport and $180 for race.

Q: Did Fischer come up with a center rear body-to-axle brake line? Does this kit include Fischer lines?

Fischer can do this as an exchange part. It's far too expensive for us to purchase these lines and include them in our kit at no extra cost.

Q: Is the anti-lock braking system still active? Still effective?

ABS is not touched and works as before.

Q: Is the brake combi-valve mod a problem (I've had my surge valve removed for about 3 years)?

This also should not affect the braking ability & performance.

Q: Money is always an issue - would it be better to go with smaller front MovIt Brakes plus rear MovIt Brakes or larger front MovIts with stock rears?

Front and rear MovIt Brakes are always better. The fronts last much longer and the braking force is much better since the rears support them. If you cannot go with the complete Kit, go for the fronts first and add the rears later.
